I would be too afraid and nervous to buy from eBay. It just seems to risky to me. But I'm glad it worked out for you.

Yes, about half of my guitars since there are not too many opportunities to try them out here. I tried to get as many info as I can get from forums and YT videos. Worked out well.

...not just for the brand...but sometimes because of the brand...if that makes any sense...

I watched a video of someone playing an Avalon here and I liked it. So I researched it, found owners here, and watched some more videos, including one by the seller. I had never played one, but based on my research I bought an Avalon and love it.

I’ve bought Seagulls twice and a Squier Strat. Each time, I was pleased with what I got.

I have to confess my last two purchases were without playing them. First was a PRS Silver Sky which I've had a tough time bonding with until I discovered an Ibanez tube screamer this week. My latest purchase about three weeks ago was a Gretsch Black Falcon, also unplayed. I have to say that for each of these guitars I researched the heck out of the internet offerings so I had a pretty good idea as to the sounds I would be able to generate with my pedalboard setup.

Years ago I bought a 69 Martin D-35 with Brazilian Rosewood just based on spec and Gruhn saying it was an excellent sounding guitar. It was just OK. I sold it back to them years later and learned my lesson with that one. I need to at least hear a sound clip before I buy now. That's my rule.

Recently I came across a Mossman Sitka/Brazilian Dreadnought at guitargal. The soundclip sold me and it turned out to be the guitar I always wanted, finally.

Bought my Yamaha and Fender that way, except had played a PM-2 Fender in a store.

Just bought a Republic resonator and had never heard of one before. C'mon, UPS!

I've bought 6 Breedloves without having played them. Never been disappointed. Wouldn't hesitate to doing it again.
