Even though I wipe my guitar every time I play it, when the microfiber cloth passes over where my arm rests, or the neck, I can feel the drag on the cloth.
This is on a guitar that's cleaned after every use.

I don't because if you do you're wiping off all the mojo you've created with your playing and your guitar will never break-in and have any mojo!

"Yep. I have a habit of lightly wiping down the entire guitar (including strings) with a cotton cloth every time it goes back in the case."
Double yep. My F-i-L, who is a 50-year player and luthier, gave me that advice when I picked up my first acoustic in 2009.

Good grief, never! If I'm being that particular with my guitars then it's no longer enjoyable for me, but for others wiping it down daily is part of the enjoyment. To each their own.

Yes every time I play - a fairly quick pass on the neck, body, and tuners takes less than a minute and one additional minute to wipe each of the strings

I just wear a bib so I don’t drool on my guitar.

So I guess that means you can't cover "Drooling Banjoes "

Just the drooling part. I can't keep up with that kid. But it doesn't get on my guitar.

Clean when changing strings. If it starts looking bad it gets strings too.

I have my roadies do it.

Unless you’re from certain areas of some of our lovely southern states, nice people simple don’t “drool”.

Mainly I wipe the strings, if I want them to last. Especially on an electric but also on my woodies

I've never wiped down guitar. My satin Guild has a nice polish now where I rest my arm. But since I've just acquired my Furch, I'm reconsidering the wipe!

I used to wipe the guitar down all the time, but these days, now that I'm washing my hands more than a dozen times per day, I don't bother.

Washing hands wouldn’t have kept that from happening. Usually, by the time hazing is noticed (from your arm resting on the guitar), it’s too late to do anything about it. Wiping the guitar after playing it eliminates the potential of allowing a defect to present itself on your instrument. Spoken as only someone can who has allowed a guitar to be damaged by the lack of such a minimal amount of effort.
