The only time I use alternate tunings is drop D for a handful of tunes, and open E for one. Cranking up the A D and G strings on my good quality nylon string crossover is scary. The G string can snap or pull out on me...so I don't risk tuning up to open G when playing out. Wondering whether anyone has issues like that.

New Standard Tuning (aka Guitar Craft Standard Tuning)!!
CGDAEG. The high G is a compromise since you can't tune a fifth up from E (to B), but G4 is still pretty scary even with a very small gauge string. "Crafties" usually do this on Ovation steel string guitars. I've only used NST on electric. |

Yep. My Cordoba Mini-SM has a scale length of 20", standard tuning tuned up to C2 to C4. Can go higher. Nylon strings.

You could probably go as high as D5 or even Eb5.

ill tune my lowest two up to 3 semitones, the D 2 semitones, and from there the G string up 1 semitone and never the bottom 2. I find its never good to leave that much tension on the neck so I usually tune out of the higher tunings when im done playing for that session.
