Great story, great guitar, and what a wonderful wife you have! Congratulations! I'm a Guild fan, and a D-40 Traditional is on my bucket list.

Belated Happy Birthday and there is no argument that is one heck of a family you have surrounded yourself with. I am approaching 70 and have never gotten a guitar as a gift. But that is OK as I also have never been given any grief about snagging what I want although my choices have at times left my wife and others scratching their heads muttering "that boy must be on puppy chow."

Neither your wife nor this guitar are trade-ables! Given the story that goes with this guitar it's got to be a keeper. Your wife is amazing and, happy birthday.

Congrats, from another fellow Canadian. Thanks for the post, very nice read.
That guitar is definitely a keeper, with that kind of family & friends support.

What a great story! The fact that so many of your friends/family chipped in on the guitar must make it very special - something to think of every time you pick it up. Kudos to your wife. Thanks for posting.
