Congrats, RP! Truly looks first class and I'm sure it plays and sounds like it. I'm getting ready to walk out the door and do my first public gig with my new X20 woody. Outdoor block party, about 200 folks, food trucks, coolers and lots of social distancing.

Man, it seems like almost everyone who gets an X30 reacts with such stunned pleasure. A few people don’t love them for specific uses and a few have had specific problems with their’s, but the overall depth of sound and tone, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a negative word. I don’t have a use, want, need, place, or budget for another nice guitar, but I’d still love to play one of these just to see what the fuss is about.

Enjoy it Joel - you have a bunch of very nice guitars and to be this blown away by this one is really quite an endorsement!

Thanks to all for your kind words. This satin X30 is definitely some kind of something. I'm not very good at describing tonal qualities, but this almost sounds artificial in that I have never heard such a deep resonance come from a guitar. It's like when you see a person and the sound that comes from their mouth just doesn't match their appearance. It's kind of like the guitar version of Jackie Evancho...

Seeing photos of all these beautiful Emeralds, I am running out of appreciative descriptive terms. That is a beautiful guitar with an exceptional veneer. With tone that matches the look, you have something very special. And, worth the wait. Congratulations! If you were of a mind to record something for us to hear, I know there would be a lot of anxious listeners out here in CF land.

Enjoy!

Wow, beautiful guitar!
Your description of the tone sounds exactly like what I've been looking for.
May I ask... How much did you save by skipping the electronics, and how much more did the satin finish cost? Thanks!

Thanks zeeway & twig. The tone continues to amaze me with its boominess. This is not a slight against Martin, but the D18 and HD28 I previously owned would not compare to this X30. I sent you a PM....

I see Randy’s already replied privately - the ‘no pickup’ option is available through a regular order for any Emerald, and it knocks $175 off the price. If you do that, and just go for the gigbag, you can get a standard, no-frills X20 for a princely $1925 plus shipping - or an X30 for $100 more, at $2025.

Best money I ever spent on a guitar. Twice

Thanks for the tips and information. I’ve been wondering if there was a way to save a few bucks off a new one. Of course, skipping the wood veneer would save a lot - but seeing pictures like RP’s new x30 makes that tough!

Pretty slick, RP! The veneer is striking and the satin finish is quite cool. Seems it’s a tone machine as well. Enjoy!
