Default Guitar Settings on Voicelive 3

For those who own VL3 could you let me know what settings you specifically use to get the best acoustic guitar tone ?

I recently upgraded after using the Play Acoustic. I loved the vocal tone and processing on the PA but missed good looper and guitar effects ,which VL3 also provides.

Very happy with the vocal and looper functions on the VL3 but very disappointed with the tone Im getting when running my guitar through it. (normally a Gibson with a Fishman Matrix pup and Fishman Austra Spectrum DI)

When it runs through the VL3 I use the 'acoustic' amp option but I find the tone very metallic, really sounds like a cheap acoustic running through a cheap amp.

I hope Im doing something wrong and can get a much better, natural tone when going throug the VL3 into my amp (AER compact 60)

Please note its not a pickup or amp problem, if i run the guitar direct into the AER the tone is fantastic, its just when it goes through the VL3)

So ..please., tell me, how do i get a great guitar tone through the VL3 ?

cheers,
Gibby

Ahoj Gibby ~ Have a VL3 also. Not a fan of the Body Rez or the eq in the VL3. Currently using a Radial PZ-Pre for eq and the VL for fx.

I plug a Fishman matrix into a Redeye preamp into the VL3 and it sounds really good.

I'm not a fan of the bodyrez either and I use the acoustic amp setting. It's been a while since I set it up but I don't think I used much eq in my patches.

It seems that the 'acoustic' amp is the only legitimate setting that can be used, all the other ones seem to be for electrics.

Keep them coming gents.

You can use the “guitar thru” input on the back to by pass the Guitar section and use the V3 to process your vocals and “listen” to your guitar for the vocal harmony guidance. That way you get the best of both for you...fine vocal processing and the AER guitar sound.
I am not familiar with where you would select “no amp” and would like to know if the poster of that comment can chime in.

In the guitar tab amp section, scroll to acoustic. First choice is "acoustic". There is a pic of an amp with line through it, which to me indicates "no amp". I also use the "VoiceliveEditor" software and shut it off as any other effect.
Using the "guitar through" prevents user from utilizing onboard effects. Works fine this way for me.

Thanks. Agreed the thru option eliminates the effects but it seemed Gibby liked the AER on its own... therefore my suggestion. You know, I never thought of the acoustic amp icon as indicating it was bypassed. The gains and eq’s and such remain active. Perhaps they are just indicating this is a straight no amp simulation setting. Long story short I have used the VL3 for years and generally favor the Body Res 1 with eq and such set for each of my guitars. I get a decent sound with some tweaking.
