Default About to place a charmed life pick order

Hey all,

I'm pretty overwhelmed and thought I would ask some advice. I am about to place an order for some charmed life picks and I don't really know what the heck I'm doing.

I own a blue chip TAD-1R 50 and a TP40 and love the tone on both of them. I was thinking about ordering a TAD in a thicker size (60 or 80 probably), as it seems to me that compared to the 40, the 50 is giving me even more of the thick, full tone that I am craving at the moment. Why not go thicker yet?

At the same time, I thought, why not gived charmed life a try? Scott seems like a good guy and I'd like to support him.

I'm looking to buy a couple of picks, and would like to get a bit of a variety pack, so I can see what is out there. What would you suggest?

Do the shapes (other than the tip, of course) make much difference in the tone, or is it only the thickness and the shape of the tip?

What about the different colors and materials? Any ones that I HAVE to try or anything like that?

Thanks for helping with what is probably one of the 3 most overdone questions on the board!

Brian

I would suggest trying a CLP casein pick. I have 2 browns but the flame casein is my favorite.

Agreed. I have the brown and black, which are wonderful, but nothing beats the casein. And the flame is also my favorite of those... a very slick, quiet pick.

I vote for the flame artisan triangle. Just got mine last week and love it! With caesin, i think thicker us better, but thats just a personal preference. Enjoy! Scott’s a great guy, and service is absolute tops

I love my flamin' casein...... but I hear AGF rumors that the new blonde kid on the block is pretty nice too. So for your "variety pack" you have those two top choices.......

Hey, Brian... why don't you contact Charmed Life Picks? Nobody likes to talk picks more. I'm sure he can give you a lot more help than we can.

I’ve never spent this kind of money on a pick, but I am intrigued. Does Charmed Life offer an AGF discount?

My suggestion exactly! Scott loves to talk picks and would welcome the opportunity to discuss options with you. My suggestion is to try the blind series. They’re like a vespel (Blue Chip) with more attack. It’s my new favorite pick.

Default Order Sent

So, I just got a bit of everything... I had a bit of balance on my paypal from a guitar I sold recently, so hopefully my wife won't notice I just dropped $150 on four pieces of plastic weighing about 20g...

I've been using a Blue Chip CT-55 for 6 years now as my primary mandolin pick, it has held up remarkably and now is my go to for flatpicking on my rosewood dred. I just yesterday order a blond 1.4 large triangle from Charmed Life out of curiosity. I expect it will be similar to the BC, perhaps a bit warmer with less speed bevel.
