Tone DEQ question
Does anyone know if the ToneDEQ pedal is essentially the pre-amp section from a Loudbox series amp? Is there any difference between running through the DEQ and plugging straight into a Loudbox and using its reverb, chorus, and eq?
Thanks Dave |

A number of people have said that - however having owned and used both I found a difference in going from Loudbox Mini to powered speaker and Tonedeq to powered speaker so I doubt the theory.
The amp sounds fatter and full IMO. Not that the Tonedeq sounds bad - just not as nice as the Loudbox. The reverb and chorus and EQ sets may be the same although the Tonedeq has a few more options of effects plus the compressor and low cut.

Thanks, Nick. I really like the loudbox sound, too. I have a few older fishman pedals for other amps, and am interested in hiw the DEQ combines them all in one.

Fishman implies that the ToneDeq is the front-end and effects section of the Loudbox. I had one and its EQ was set to the same centers, and it has some additional effects, but I have no doubt it was largely the same as the Loudbox.
I liked it alot and used it with my Rare Earth Blend. The only reason I retired it was that I retired the Rare Earth Blend (too shrill in the high-end). It's not built terribly sturdy either, but it's a really nice piece of gear otherwise.
