Any Boss VE8 Experts?

I couldn’t stand the harmony button being in the middle, so I moved it into an external footswitch. Can I program that middle button to control a guitar effect? Like octave down?

Can I set the unit to have delay on the guitar on all the time and use the chorus switch to turn chorus on and off? It seems to me that the one switch turns. Only ALL guitar effects on and off. If so, what a poor design!
