Final Four and the Dogs

My wife and I were watching the end of the San Diego State/ Florida Atlantic game. We had a casual interest in hoping for the local team to advance, but really did not have any vested interest in the outcome.

When that guy sank the final shot at the buzzer, my wife remarked, "I don't believe that - the Aztecs never led in the second half until after the game was technically over by the clock."

The dogs were a different story. I don't know how or why they knew something exciting had happened. The beagle sleeping in the laundry basket is old, the Rez dog is deaf, but when that ball went through the hoop after the buzzer had sounded, both of them jumped up and started barking to beat the band. You would have thought they were part of the SDSU student body the way that they carried on.

It took me several minutes to settle the dogs down....I had to take them outside for awhile.

That's very odd. I certainly cannot offer an explanation.

Since you say it was SDSU is your local team, I wonder if there was some celebratory outside noise that the dogs heard that maybe you didn't? Like neighbors shouting, or a car horn, or firework, etc...?

Just a thought.

I am going to go with outside third party stimulus. They were over by the slider door, which was open to the backyard. We have neighbors who occasionally throw watch parties. Their kids can get quite loud at times.
