I get by fine with my Planetwaves NS capos these days. I just have to screw them down tighter than normal and be careful about placement.

Maybe I'm being misunderstood...not sure!

If you buy a shubb capo and the radius is too tight, you can pull off the sleeve and give the metal bar a couple light whacks with a hammer and it will straighten easily. With a few minutes of trial and error you could tweak it from 16 to 20". The metal is pretty soft and the chrome coating hasn't cracked for me when I did it! A few weeks ago I had to loosen the radius on a banjo capo I bought for mandolin use...easy peasy.

Are you saying I should go buy a RainSong to go with my Shubb?

Sorry, I’m feeling cheeky today and I’m being too vague. It is also the profile of the neck that I cannot seem to agree with- radius aside. But your info about adjusting the Shubb is gold, so thank you!

I am a big fan of Elliot Capos... expensive but made to order based on your neck radius. I have cut down my guitars to just two these days and two capos serve me just fine. Here is a link for those interested.... they are just amazing! If you are into capos that is :-)

Thanks to a past thread about Planet Waves vs Dunlop capos, I ordered a Dunlop. Was about $30. Far superior construction, and sounds much better on my RainSong and wood guitars, too.
The picture shows the difference. While 2x+ heavier, and more substantial, it is more comfortable than the Planet Waves one.

I recently picked up one of these Dunlops - I found them on clearance at my local GC, and could not resist for $15. I really like it so far - it’s easy to adjust, and that pivot at the end of the lower arm seems to give a more secure fit across a wide variety of guitars.

Your photo shows the Dunlop Pivot capo (bottom). The main point of the design is the bottom pivoting section which is designed to equalize the pull opposing the top bar so it clamps with a more consistant and even pressure across the strings.
