I think it would have been better to discuss the problem directly with the shop before naming names. Give them a chance to make it right or at least tell you their side of the story.

THEN tell the world the result, if you want.

Yeah, the shop I use in NYC would charge that just to remove the dings (granted, he’s one of the best luthiers in NYC, and he’s in NYC, but still). And depending on the ding and how long it’s been there, it might not steam out.
