I can't tell you how many times I tried to learn the first page of Maple Leaf Rag (on the piano). I'm fifty now, so I'm running out of time.
I've also been learning Sweet Child o' Mine, on electric. I'll never actually use it out and about, but I think anything which exercises your muscles and your brain is good, and it is always good to play outside your comfort zone. You never know what you'll pick up. So, it's never effort in vain. |

No matter what happens with the tune, its making my hand stronger because it has a lot of barres in it. A sliver lining. I went back to working on something else that was wearing me thin and it was much easier to play due to the barre workouts (and some rest in between).

I hope not, because this means I'm pretty close myself to running out of time!

Back to the original question and my answer: I play sessions. Does that give you a clue whether I work on tunes that I know won't end well?

I´ve got many snippets of what might have ended up as a good (great?) song.. some recorded, some just in my memory
like a torso.. you know I was just never motivated enough, or fit - to make the ends meet .. maybe some day |
