Exclamation 1966 Martin D-28

Guys, a buddy of mine has one of these thats been sitting in his late father's closet for the last 20-30yrs.
It looked like Brazilian Rosewood, but I'm no expert.
Great condition. No finish cracks, just a few minor dings, etc! The pickgaurd is peeling up on the ends but thats about it. Any help on the value would be helpful. I'm guessing it would be valued between $8-12 grand. Less or more? Sorry folks its not for sale either.

Yep, it's Brazilian. I'd think it would bring about $6000 but I'm guessing. Make sure there's at least 10k in insurance though, and have a professional repairperson remove and replace that pickguard before it's shrinking cracks the top.

8-12K na I dont think it would go that high unless it belonged to elvis. Im going to say about 5K-6500 if its in real good shape. Id have a luither look it over real good for cracks and structual strenth. Have it set up nice and play it. A guitar is only a guitar when its played the rest of the time its just wood. Have your friend put it to use. JW

I agree with JW. Martin's in the 60's rarely get above $3000 It's just what the market dictates. I've got a 53 D28 in great condition and I would only get about $5000 for it.
