Default Caffeinated (original fingerstyle solo)

Hi all,

I've added a new neo-celtic original fingerstyle solo guitar piece, Caffeinated, to my Soundcloud page:

I had sat down with the intention of writing a slow, melodic neo-Celtic air but didn't want it to begin with the usual 1st, 2nd, 3rd introduction of far too many Celtic airs, so, I thought, "Well, how about 5th, 4th, 3rd instead?" I liked, and then chased, that idea but it kicked the creative juices into overdrive and the air that I intended to write quickly went, well, too quickly (!) and it quickly (see what I did there?) became a reel.

After I had it all written I said to myself (I really do talk to myself like this), "Ya know, this sounds like something someone would write when they're on an extended caffeine jag!" The piece is dedicated to my Papilio bandmate, Anthony "Is the Coffee Ready Yet?" Rissesco, who prefers to live life fully caffeinated.

My Papilio bandmates, Jennifer Publicover and (the aforementioned) Anthony Rissesco, had graciously asked me to do a solo guitar piece for the new Papilio CD, Sociable Butterflies (out in October), so I offered up this piece. Caffeinated is not on my new solo CD, One Size Does Not Fit All, but will only be available on the new Papilio CD. Hope you like it...

Phil

Good job. Definitely not Celtic. I would add more variation in the tune. IMO less reverb would be nicer.

I did say "neo-celtic" but perhaps I should've said "something like a reel," Derek. It is more like a trad tune -- three parts, each 8 bars repeated, with little variation -- than my other usual "songs without words" -- verse, chorus, bridge -- writings. As for the reverb, we'll have to agree to differ.
