Default Original song, If I Had It Over

I recorded a song today I wrote a few months back, "If I Had It Over". It is about making choices as we go about our business of life. The song had a different meaning for me today in this new world where choosing to go to the store may risk yours or someone else's life. Choose wisely friends!

That is a good song. Performed honest and straightforward. I like the whole thing.

Thanks for your input. I had John Prine in my mind when I was writing it, I love his songs for their simple honest message. Still broken up about losing him.

Default Cause words matter

If I Had It Over / Drop D / Orig Nov 2019

When I was young, I did most anything
I went west to east, east to west, and back over again
I worked so hard, for nothing, way back then
Now I’m rich with memories, memories that never end

I ran raging rivers, both big and small
I hiked hills and canyons, they were mighty tall
We sang and we danced, by the waterfall
We had some troubled times, we had some curve balls

Chorus:
If I had it over, I’d do it again
If I had it over, I’d do it all again
Right or wrong, good or bad
It was worth it in the end
Fate gives you chance
You choose the best you can To Instrumental

Had some good dogs, they were loyal to the end
I can’t say the same bout all my friends
Days are shorter now, life’s in the slow lane
But hourglass sands keep moving faster, no one's to blame

I had many friends, they came and they went
Mostly just playmates, about 99 percent
But you should know, I want to be your friend
And you can be my friend, till the bitter end

Chorus to Instrumental

Tough times come, tough times go
Sometimes I had to guess, at the fork in the road
Through hell or high water, you always trust the flow
Looking back now, it was a heavy load

Like days in the fall, sun sets in the west
Winter’s coming soon, might find my place to rest
I lived life to the fullest, I kept up with the best
No regrets now, no going back, I feel blessed

Chorus to outro
