Charles Dickens, Great Expectations. I’m thinking I’ve probably read it five or six times over the past 40 years—when I teach the 19th-C novel, I always teach a Dickens novel, but I try to rotate my choices. When I’m not reading Dickens, I forget how good he is at drawing the reader into the story.

I remember the David Lean film—I went to see it as a tyke with my dad. Miss Havisham’s house still gives me the willies.

It is twisted, like all of his stuff!

I got hooked on him a long time ago, and find his writing to be very entertaining, his plots just on the far side of realistic, and characters compelling. Not sure I could have ever waded through everything Dickens wrote a few years ago if I hadn't read Irving first. Now if I could only remember it....!

Love Irving! A Prayer for Owen Meany is my favorite.

I am currently writing my third novel so I have little time to read right now. Yet waiting on my nightstand is one of Clive Cusslers, Dirk Pitt adventure along with my favorite, Melville's Moby Dick. I often find that playing and singing can lead to a nice storyline diversion or sidebar adventure.

My wife read this and loved it. This book is now in my “to read” pile and I’m looking forward to reading it,

New month new Audible credit...Listening to Pete Townshend narrate his own biography, Who Am I.

This is not a bad listen. Even better with Gold Vol 1 & Vol 2 playing very low in the background.

Bringing it back...

A new month new audible credit. I have to say that this is probably better as an Audiobook than an actual read since the author is reading it himself and reading it more like a conversation than a read.

I should also add this is the best musician biography i've 'read' so far.

The Gospel According To Luke. By Steve Lukather.

Behind Tim Pierce, Steve Lukather may be the 2nd most recorded guitarist.

This is a fascinating book. I follow a lot of news, so I started reading this with interest. But, this book is enlightening in ways that were unexpected to me. I’m glad I read it.
