Awesome feedback! I appreciate y'all.

It's coming along nicely for me. I'm getting comfortable with the slide and getting some nice tone from it already. Point taken about using quality slides. I guess I'll be dealing with Slide Acquisition Syndrome now.

I did order a glass slide from The Rock Slide. We'll see how that one works out.

Ry Cooder plays slide on his HD28.

I had an old 67 LG1 that was great for slide.
You can definitely do it, I prefer lighter weight glass slide for flat top acoustic and electric guitars, heavier brass slide for my steel body National Triolian.
