Default Can you identify this luthier's logo?

...Adding to the broader forum just to get more eyes on this.

I am having a hard time identifying this luthier's logo. Can anybody else identify it for me?

Thanks,
Dan

Have you considered that it might not be a logo, but instead a design or initials requested by the person who commissioned the instrument?

It looks like a stylized S and G so it could stand for something like “Smith Guitars” or it could stand for something like “Gene Smith” or “Genevieve Smith” or it could be a custom design with the owner’s initials. I guess that you could Google luthiers whose last name begins with S and then go website and/or FB page and see what you might discover.
Best,
Jayne

It's a treble clef.

My guess is that it was the logo for someone who built a few guitars but not many. Lots of handbuilders discover that guitar-building isn't really for them after they've completed a few.

The shape reminds me of Stefan Sobell's guitar headstocks, similar TRC as well....

If the nut and Truss rod cover are original, I think it's possibly a first build by an enthusiastic amateur. I don't believe it's the work of an established luthier.

Do you think its Macassar Ebony or Brazilian Rosewood?

To be honest I started looking at Stefan Sobell's site and I thought even if there is a chance its one of those I have to bid. Alternatively some of the finishings look like dlnobleguitars such as the neck and the inlays.

.... or its a self made guitar that I just took a bath on.

I'd vote macassar ebony and a cedar or redwood top. The top could be stained, of course.

Whatever you bought, it looks like a lot of time, care and attention went into it. If it sounds and plays as good as it looks then congrats!
