Roger,
Yes it is a bit nerve wracking, I'm not the most tech savvy when it comes to technology, as I'm sure your aware.
I also don't sing solo ever and last year singing the McKnight Jam Blues was really the first time I'd sung solo, although it was rehearsed for 2 weeks .
The Mcjammers are all friends so it was like singing in front of my family.
We've been skiing Japan February for the last two years and love it.
A USA ski trip may be on the cards 2020, we've already booked and paid for next year in Japan.
The guitar is looking awesome Tim, I don't doubt it will sound lush and dynamic.
Hi Kathy, Tim & Mary have a great Easter one and all.

Craig,

Skiing in Japan sounds great. At some future McJam, I'll have to relate how I scaled Mount Fuji in the late 1980's. True story - those that know me will doubt it's authenticity as my reputation is more of a "couch potato."

When planning a 2020 USA ski trip, take a look at western New York state. Well known skiing locations and about a 5 hour drive to the McKnights.

Maybe Mary can comment on the down hill skiing opportunities in Morral Ohio.

Kathy says "Hi"

Rodger is funny.

I think we live down hill from the highest point of Morral. It might be 6 inches lower. It's pretty easy traveling on a bicycle.

Roger,
I can't see a problem being a couch potato when you have a McKnight guitar in your hands.

Mary,
On a side note who would you use to ship a guitar to Australia.
I'm trying to get a T5 for my duo partner through the forum and shipping is up around $1000.00.
I remember my L5 was quite expensive to ship here also.
I think that came with usps from memory.

Craig,
You might try investigating shipping costs with FedEx or USPS. We usually use UPS for international shipping though. That does sound very high although when we shipped to China it was $900.

If it helps, I've been using a freight forwarding service for shipping from Vancouver to AU, and it's only cost 225$CAD. Shipping was about 10 days from drop off, it was super easy. The only thing is that it goes airport to airport, so you have to go the the airport yourself to pick it up and clear customs and such, but it was fairly painless. Might look into that...

For shipping international, you should look into Fedex "great rates" program.

http://www.fedex.com/us/greatrates/

They tell you the cheapest day during the week to schedule your shipment, and give you a huge discount.

About a year ago I paid around $150 to ship to China from the US.

Not to horrify anybody since we're talking about guitars but BUMP! Is the paint dry yet?

Two more months until the McJam. Will Roger be taking delivery at that time?

.Hi there to the Neil-myster!

Tim said, "Nope. Not yet."

Yes, the McJam will be wrapped around Rodger's grandson's upcoming guitar and it will be Rodger's thrilling moment to debut this one. However we will get more pictures here before June.

Thanks for asking about this Neil... I had heard a rumor that the McKnights skipped town under assumed names. Glad that's not the case.

It seems like years since we've had news about the McKnight build for my Grandson, Dominic. Tim has been keeping his eye on the guitar, as requested. I am getting super excited!!!!

Without further ado, we are back on the air!!!!!!!! Comments are Mary's, unless otherwise noted.

Today after dry sanding was completed Tim did a little wet sanding for you while I was soaked as a rat pressure washing the siding and fence to prepare for our summer fun. THE MCJAM!

Your guitar sure has a pretty shine for the start, but before you see it up close and personal it will look great!

Though I know he is getting his ear plugs on, it appears he is about to say a prayer for a well behaving sander!

Sanding the neck and peg head...

This is ready to wet sand...

The box will be ready soon, too.

Let the wet sanding begin.Murphy's oil soap and a little water is spritzed onto the areas to wet sand...

It's not fresh wood, but it sure smells clean in the McGit shop.

I wouldn't recommend you try this when you get it home!

Remove the clean soap sludge...

And start wet sanding again on the front...

At the wheel buffer...

The soft buffer pad begins to create a great sheen...

This is all I am taking pictures of for now as the pressure washer which was a Mother's Day gift for me calls my name.

Tim will take a few more pictures of the process while I'm out getting sunburned.

I will describe what's going on.

Removing the tape from the fretboard...

Checking the thickness of the finish...

Sanding the neck to make sure the fit is right on spot...

Your guitar neck is now attached to the box... (Rodger: WOOOO HOOOO!!!! It's all coming together!!)

The neck is glued and clamped...

Check out that shine, Rodger Dodger! Looks good from here. The glue on the guitar will set. I'll be in touch when we get more pictures.

It feels good to be back on task! Or somewhat anyhow.

(Rodger: This top is spectacular!!! I love Adirondack and this is EXACTLY what I pictured in my imagination from the time we picked out the woods!!)
