Nice looking woods. I've not heard of Lads before and I'm looking forward to seeing this guitar take shape!

He's new and hasn't formally put up a shop yet. 😊

Nice rosette, and jumbo is right--that thing looks huge!

What's the dimension on that lower bout of this bad boy?

It should blow you away!

Yes!! A cannon is what we're going for!

It's loosely based on an SJ200 plan, so 17". 😀

Going to really enjoy watching your guitar come together.
What an intensive Bracing on this guitar. May I assume that the goal is to stiffen up the redwood top so there is more headroom?
So this way you get the best of both worlds...the luscious tone of redwood with the headroom of sitka?

Yes, definitely! Also, to try to lessen the boominess, which is probably natural to the huge body type, and the less stiff redwood as well.

This is yet to be tuned.

Also this was inspired by Ervin Somogyi. 😁

Thanks for sharing this journey with us! I love redwood tops and have a redwood over rosewood guitar that I really like. It's a very versatile guitar- is a great fingerstyle guitar but also handles a pick beautifully. But it's not near 17"- Wow!

Congrats!

Im glad redwood is getting a lot of love. 😊 From my meager experience with redwood guitars (only 1 so far), i can say it 100% suits my needs. Finger picking and soft strumming. But i didnt think it backed down from moderate to hard strumming either.. 😀
