I've looked and looked for the duck. All I can see is a two-headed rabbit.
This peghead reminds me of Twain's comment about Richard Wagner's music: "It's not as bad as it sounds". This peghead: it's not as bad as it looks. Steve |

Leave it to me to get a discussion started on animals in wood grain. Steve, I see your two headed rabbit, my duck is facing the other way, the beak pointing up and towards the midline, you can see its body and its wings as well as head and oversized beak.
Dennis, you are just messed up, pig, Donkey, did you get out of work early today and enjoy some scotch with a nice cigar haahahaa....

Guitar, oh yeah guitar....thanks for checking in. Box is just about done. Working on inlay sketches and other small details yet... Yeah, I have a problem with animals in wood grain. My best was a bear policeman taking up a good portion of the back of a guitar these guys did, from that point on, I am basically a legend hahahahahahaha

Hey Marcus, good to hear from you. Hope all is well. Thanks for the compliment.
Schweet it is, I do not have the inlays planned like you, but Steve and I are working on something I think is going to be pretty cool as well as unique. We are in the sketching phase right now, but I really am excited about it. My first sort of "theme" guitar....I will keep the theme quiet as of now. Tom

Couple of quick pics showing the end wedge cleaned up with a swipe of magic to bring out the colors a bit:
[IMG][/IMG] Next is a picture showing the purfling being installed, there is a teflon spacer in place where the cross-grained SE Asian rosewood will eventually end up: [IMG][/IMG]

Here is a picture of Steve finishing up the installation of the bindings and the nice miter joints at the end wedge. The binding is Celebes Ebony which is a little less dark than other ebony which allows one to see some grain patterns. It should pick up the dark streaks in the Southeast Asian Rosewood and really bring the whole thing together as well as having some character of its own. Finishing the purflings I believe will be next on the agenda. We are getting close to the finishing stage. Lots of work to do on the neck and fretboard yet...

Nice choice on the C. ebony--it really looks rich next to the rosewood.
I take it the neck and fretboard have some yet to be seen embellishments, eh?
