I don't think a good D18 is ever a mistake and it sounds like you found a winner!
Congrats!

I went to a Martin event at a local music shop and they played the D-18 Modern Deluxe back to back with the standard D-18, D-28, and a few others, including some nice customs. I was way impressed by the D-18 Modern Deluxe. By far sounded the best to my ears.

I was GASing hard after that, and ended up ordering one this week. It’s sitting at UPS now for delivery tomorrow.

Yes... just install the Tapatalk app on your phone, open the forum website from Tapatalk, and you can post pictures directly from the gallery on your phone.

As far as the "mistakes" you made today I'll let Radney Foster speak to that. He has a pretty good message for you:

Congratulations, those Modern Deluxe models are the real deal, I played a OM- 28 that still haunts me. Your new D-18 will make a great counter point to your D-35. Perfect pair of Martin bookends, enjoy.

Funny - I was just thinking about posting that tune. One of those that I liked so much (and right away) I recorded it myself!

Yeah, that's a great, great song. You and I seem to have very similar tastes/likes.

Before I bought my J-45 I was lucky enough to play a D18 and a D18 Modern Deluxe. That Modern Deluxe sounded very very good to my ears. It would have been a much tougher decision if it wasn’t for the price difference but that Modern Deluxe wasn’t in the budget for me. IMHO you got yourself a fantastic guitar. Enjoy it in good health.

Congrats. Sounds as if the guitar found you.

Sometimes it makes sense to lay out money for a long-term item. Over the course of ten years, you’re enjoying it as often as you practice. And paying just pennies a day.

You need one of each...

Great choice. I think Martin have excelled themselves with these recent models.

Default Martin d-18MD

Thanks to everyone for your posts. And yes I totally agree, if it was a mistake to buy this Martin its the best one I have ever made. Thanks Kerbie for the picture help. I have been just a little busy yesterday, I hope you all had a good thanksgiving. I will try my best to see if I can get some pics on here.
