Default My first Mistake

I walked into my local guitar shop yesterday and found out that they had stopped carrying Taylor guitars. The owner told me they were now carrying Martins. I'm checking them all out and then I pick up a D-18 Modern Deluxe. That was my first mistake. Then I actually started to play it. That was my second mistake. To make a long story short the guitar is now sitting in my home and I have been playing it for a little while. I am not a rich man and this is the most money I have ever spent on a guitar. I am trying not to exaggerate but this guitar sounds amazing. If anyone out there is looking for a Sitka and Mahogany guitar I really think you should check this one out. I would really like to get some pictures of it on here but I don't know how to do it. If any one can help me out I sure would appreciate it.

Well congratulations on your wonderful mistake! That sounds like a great guitar. I had a 2012 D-18 that was fantastic but I haven't tried one of the modern deluxe Martins yet and am trying to stay away from them! Enjoy your new guitar.

Debbie

If you click on "edit" then "go advanced" on your original post, then scroll down to "manage attachments" it will pop an uploader up and it's pretty self explanatory from there. I think you have to get your files to a manageable size - I normally use 1000 pixels on the longest side.

Congrats! D18's are IMO the best Martin Dread out there.

I use IMGUR for hosting my pics. It's free. They have a menu with various links for images. The one for forums is the one to use. Easy peasy...

That there sounds like a lifer guitar. Congratulations in finding a guitar that calls to you from the hanger on the wall or from across your living room. Sounds like it would've been a mistake to let it go.

I believe you have to be a Charter member to have that feature, and the OP is just registered.

It sounds like you’re a lot wealthier than you were before you bought it.

A guitar that, basically, sells itself is a rare thing, and one that will always tug at your sleeve when you’re not around it.

I bet it’ll go well with Turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving.

You did not make a mistake buying it! I have made the mistake of not buying in that situation many times and have always regretted. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wrestling with this myself. Played a D18 Tuesday that was just fantastic with depth on the bottom and density on the top. Plus it’s such an archetypal visual. But I’m trying to find a non-dread solution to the age old conundrum of the perfect utility instrument. Maybe a losing proposition?

Congrats on a great guitar.
