Any Shoreline Music fans out there?
It's been a good long while since I've heard anything from John & Co. I'm subscribed to their newsletter but haven't gotten anything for months on end.
Anybody have the inside scoop? I love doing business with them as John is one of the coolest, most generous guys out there. I sure hope it isn't the end for them.

I don't have an inside scoop, but twice in the past when John & Co have moved the shop, there was a quiet time like this before resurfacing. The year 2004 comes to mind, at the first move from San Diego to Durango. I'm still enjoying the CA Legacy AE guitar I bought in that moving sale!

I've been wondering myself and check their website from time to time. Hope we hear from them soon!

I have noticed that Taylor Guitar's are no longer being listed on their website.

There is a map on the Shoreline Music website, and underneath the Google-style location pin showing where Durango is...there are red letters that say "CLOSED". I had read here or on some other guitar forum that John left to help some ministry or church in another state with their worship program. I know nothing for sure...

No appearances on this forum since early July so that's probably not a good sign.

FWIW, they're no longer listed here as a forum sponsor...first I'd noticed that...

Hope he and the other folks who were in the shop are doing well. Hopefully John will drop in to say hey at some point. I do hope the shop reemerges at some point - I've been kicking around plans for a custom Lakewood.

That's a shame, he was very good to deal with. The Avalon he sold me is outstanding.

No. So I won't contribute to speculation. Call them tomorrow and ask. |

Never bought a guitar from Jon but have gotten all my supplies such as strings, pickups, capos etc from shoreline, and always got 15% of using the AGF code
Hope all is well and he returns to us soon

apparently/obviously he has not yet reopened in a new location . So there is no reason for anyone to call the store, etc. From the thread: "Well, folks, the time has (almost certainly) come for Shoreline Music to leave the idyllic town of Durango. When we do move, it will be the eighth time I've moved my shop. And I've learned an important lesson in all those moves: Don't try to take your stuff with you. It's a mess. Just sell it all, and buy new stuff when you get to your new home. I did this for our initial move to Durango 15 years ago, and it was GREAT. I have no idea why I decided to rent U-Hauls to carry guitars and amps across country every other time. There's a non-zero chance I will actually end up in....Shoreline, WA. This is where most people think my store is, anyway. Could be fun after all these years to actually be Shoreline Music in Shoreline." It seemed that some replying to the current thread were not aware of that so I was just trying to be helpful in case anyone wanted to actually read pertinent parts of the old thread. __________________ |

Shoreline Still in Durango
Well, I just received this email. Looks like John is still in business and operating in Durango. He’s looking for a new shop.
