Set up charity funds as there are several that interest us, like homelessness, hunger, and environmental issues. Most of them would also get a lump sum to start. Trade our current employment hours for volunteer time in other pursuits.
Pay off whatever debts we have, and the same for the kids and set them up with a financially safe future. We won't forget extended family and many friends who have stood by us over the years. Give our current home to friends in need. Move to a larger property with lots of woodland and natural meadows. We don't want a larger home per se, but a large barn with a heated shop and studio space would be useful. Not interested in vehicles, as I already have the truck I like, but the bride might want to replace her 13 year old Matrix. We have a camper-trailer fund now so that project would be expedited. My dogs will be happier than ever. |

I would do a ton of research and find the charities and or organizations where the money would be used for real needs. I would also try to help both the young and the old.
As far as on a personal level, my wife and I have nothing more we want or need at this point in our lives. Buying things doesn’t interest us. We could already do that now if we chose. I might buy another guitar. Mehh, probably not.

I’d dump a bunch of that money into the 501 c 3 that my ex wife and I set up a few years ago to honor our late son’s memory. He was career Army so we give scholarships out every spring to graduating seniors from his high school’s ROTC program. So winning a billion dollars would ensure that would continue after we’re gone.
Other than that, hmmmm.......I’m fortunate that I really don’t need anything else to make my life complete. I’m sure my wife could find ways to spend it though. She’s a crafter who recently acquired one of the Cri-cut machines. You think guitars are expensive? I can already tell that the amount of money she’ll be spending on supplies for that little hobby will make my modest little guitar collection look like nothing in comparison. |

I'd give the bulk of it away to help people obtain marketable skills and training to be able to lead productive lives.
In other words, I'd teach as many as wanted to learn how to fish.

Yep. First thought would be forming a blind trust to claim it. After that-not telling anyone but the attorney who set up the trust.

It is really spooky that you posted this certain house, because I remember when this house was for sale. I wanted to buy it, but someone got it before me. But I live here, you are in Virginia.

Ridiculous.
Why not have 1000 million dollar prizes? Actually, could be quite complicated. Still... |

mmm, £731.4 million.
I'll get back to you. I'd probably move to Ireland or France.
