Default Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out

Blues tune from the 1920s with acoustic guitar, uke, lap steel (been on a lap steel jag lately) and vocal.

This seems to be a popular one lately. First time I heard this was in Clapton's unplugged and I thought it was his original.

I was a huge Cream fan but, imo the greatest part of the "clapton unplugged" was Andy Fairweather Low. a truly amazing guitarist, besides his 60s stuff, he was a great sessions player as far as guitarists go. he was to guitar sessions what Lee Skylar was to sessions bass guitarists imo. Love both low and skylar

Written by Jimmie Cox in 1923. The first "big" recording was by Bessie Smith in 1929, though others recorded it earlier. It's been recorded a number of times over the years. If you fish around on Youtube you can find nice versions by Scrapper Blackwell and, more recently, Hot Tuna.
