Default Ryder Cup

Who's ready for the Ryder Cup? One of my all time favorite sporting events, and I am prepping my recliner!

Should be good fun... Whistling Straits is a course, that "looks" great, although I was dismayed to find that Pete Dye built it in such a way as to NOT promote "running the ball" onto the greens... yet the course just calls for that aspect of links golf...

Don't have a winner picked... just gonna depend on "who's hot and who's not" when the first ball drops!

Match play is quite a different critter from medal (stroke) play... One of the aspects of match play that I like is the fact that each match is their own referee, that the players in that match can decide what's right, so far as the rules of the game go... unfortunately, with all the money and glory on the line, that part of match play is frequently circumvented by "officials"... don't know why that would be?

In any event, it's gonna be a lot of fun to watch this!!!

Play hard and play well, boys, and may the best team win!

Talking

I always look forward to tight matches. I laugh when announcers talk about who's the favorite on paper. The matches aren't played on paper. Leave the paper on the roll.

YES!!!

Ryder Cup is my favorite sporting even, period.

Hoping the stars and stripes can overcome those scrappy Euros! Yes, on paper we should clean their clocks, but it never quite goes that way.

Have a lot of hours queued up for Friday through Sunday.

Looking for great things from Spieth and Thomas.

Ryder Cup is such a great event. Too bad the Euro fans aren't allowed to come over. It takes a little air out of the atmosphere, but should give the US team a much clearer home field advantage.
I agree, on paper the US should clean up, and as Padraig Harrington said: "If a computer determined the winner, we needn't bother showing up."
But, we know it never turns out that way. That's what makes Ryder Cup so great.
Also, in match play and team formats, world rankings don't nearly mean as much as a stroke play event over 4 days. It changes the entire dynamics, and lowly ranked players can come out of nowhere to play the David against Goliath.
I have the DVR ready to go....

Cantlay shot his last 15 rounds in the 60's. I hope he can carry that momentum into his first appearance!

Agreed. Hope the pressure of Ryder Cup doesn't get to him. He does seem like one really cool cucumber.

Oh boy! The first match out is:

Rahm/Garcia VS. Spieth/Thomas

Have this recorded. Can't wait to get home and check it out! Should be a really fun day of foursomes!!

I watched yesterday. That golf course is spectacular!

I'd shoot about 150 there from those back tees they are playing.

Quite a dominating performance thus far by the US team! That course is fantastic. I would likely shoot a 125 on it!

When I see the aerial views of the course, you'd think it was somewhere in the British Isles! Just stunning.

Agreed! That course is an absolute monster! Then you have 25 mph winds blowing. Unreal test of golf.

Hoping we can get a few points in tomorrow's singles and seal the deal!

We were due - the "team" certainly had a different feel without the usual suspects of the last decade.

Dustin and the young guns really came through.
