Default Best Mike stand

What is the best bang for the mike stand for $ 100 to 200 or less? The heaviest Mike's I will be using are a Rode NT2-A and a Rode NT1. I will mostly use this for home recording and a boom stand would be preferred. The K&M 21090 and 21021 look good as does the Hercules MS533B and the Dr Pro tripod. Will probably use two booms to try mid side recording. I am leaning towards the 21090 at $94

K&M every time; there’s a reason they are the professional standard.

Used K&M for years. Recently changed to Tama. Both very good. I think I'll be sticking with Tama though. Bombproof. If you want to test a product, give it to a high school music class!!

I like K&M and have several of the next version down, never an issue with stripping out or wobbling like the cheaper mike stands. Studio will be a controlled environment compared to a stage, I bet you will be happy with that stand.

In the past, DR Pro was my go to. I bought two of these recently and quite like them.

They pack up nicely and adjust quickly and easily. The clutch is great. The fact that there is only a need to adjust one thing on top is awesome. And the top knob is the most secure unit I've ever used. The legs fold in the folded up and down positions. The biggest downside is the metal at the point where the boom goes onto the lower half looks thin and like it could be a weak point. On the one that stays in my car often in 100°+ heat, the plastic clutch collar loosened from the shaft. However, it still tightens up just fine.

When I built my studio, looking at mic stands.

I didn't want to hang $$$$ on Light weight stands that were easy to knock over.

I found the Triad Orbit stands.

They are a little pricy. But if you are after a heavyweight, with solid-quick mount with ease of positioning. They are great.

I bought little by little. As I was building, I ended up with booms that could mount to the walls and ceiling. as well as regular and short stands for various applications.

Quick disconnect for ease of changing mics.

Live I use a T1 short stand which has a small footprint yet is heavy enough to hold a Telefunken M-80 hung out on a boom with no fear of tipping over.

The articulating legs give you lots of options, you just don't get with other stands.

My studio at work is mostly K&M except the big studio boom stands are Atlas. The other studios in the complex have a mix of various things. We used to be all Atlas but moved over to more K&Ms.

The best is probably Latch Lake or a Starbird. A company is building me a Neumann u47 clone mic that’s going to be big and heavy. So I ordered a super heavy-duty Latch Lake base and, because I’m cheap, a K&M boom arm.

Latch Lake was back ordered, and I don’t have the mic or the stand yet. But I’m expecting it to be ultra solid.

I bought a fairly inexpensive stand, but with an iPad, a beer holder thingy, and a gooseneck attachment for my mic when I play live, it was too tipsy.

I don’t remember the brand, but my life hack was to add a small free weight to the base of the stand, and it works great.

Here it is at home, but you can see the weight at the base…

I’m really pleased with the quality of my Gravity mic stands. They were only about £30 each but are quite heavily built and don’t tip at all even when extended fully.
