Talking NGD -- X20-12

At long last ..... I ordered a custom X20-12 last November and today it arrived (it took a long time due to a few "bumps in the road" that took awhile for Emerald to master). So awesome, I was so excited to put my custom Breedlove 12 back in its case). I'm enclosing pics and at some point will post some sound clips. The veneer is unique - curly amboyna, most of the rest is obvious tweaks, what you only see part of is a K&K Power Duo and the part you don't see is a narrower neck -- 1 3/4" 12 string nut width. First outing is tonight at a jam, can't wait! Enjoy the pics.

I love the veneer - a beautiful choice.

I have to say that the electronics in the soundhole are kind of jarring, but the proof will be in how it plays and sounds for you.

Jam report tomorrow?

Congrats! My X20-12 is green CF and short scale - 24.6" instead of 25.5" and standard 1-7/8" nut width. The short scale is sweet.....

Quite a fine looking guitar! Electronics do add an interesting look.

Very nice guitar and veneer! But I gots ta ask...why are the electronics so visible in the soundhole? Not my cup o’ tea, but all the power to ya if that’s what ya wanted.

Love the veneer, it has a quarter saw look to it. Also, a perfect match to the Amber weave. I don’t know if I could have waited almost a year. Congrats

That’s a beautiful finish, congratulations.
For me, the 1 3/4 on a 12 would be a workaround, but custom gets you just what’s right for you.

What kind of music will you play on this fine instrument? Do you mostly strum, flatpick or fingerpick? I really enjoy my CF 12’s (Emerald and Rainsong) and I bet you will as well.

Glad everyone enjoys the look, I sure do .... I play a mix of strum and flatpicking and open tuning and partial finger picking .... when I get a chance I'll include a few soundbites .... as to the viewable electronics, it was a compromise, because the K&K internal pre-amp allows tweaking (there is a very long thin flatblade "screwdriver" that allows the tweaking, the internal pre-amp has to be accessible which I wanted since every guitar that I've put this system has required tweaking - so it is visible and yeah it's a funky look

Jam was great - lots of complements on the sound and look of the guitar, most had never seen or handled a CF instrument so there was lots of passing around and playing, many folks were surprised at how light it was and (especially here in Alaska) were excited about it not being affected by the humidity and temperatures (although I’m not sure I want to test it -40 degrees) ...
