Default The Fabric

The purpose of the fabric: The diploma is on the front of a white t-shirt...

Default Ribbon

Dave, I am sorry for my misunderstanding. The fabric inside the guitar is ribbon saturated with hide glue and laid across the grain of the side to control cracks by limiting their spread along the grain. Sometimes guitars will have wooden braces instead of ribbon, and often there is no cross-the-grain application. Martin has used ribbon. 1930s Gibsons have wood braces. Bruce uses colorful ribbon found in most fabric stores, like this one with a tree-of-life pattern.
Best wishes,
Peter
