Default 1965 Martin 0-18 all original

Up for sale is a lovely '65 Martin 0-18. If you've been pining for a smaller-bodied guitar, I bet you'll adore this sweetie.

Not only does the comfortable 0-sized body make for a perfect porch picker, with its clear, balanced tone and lack of boominess, this would be a great instrument for recording.

This guitar features a well-aged Sitka Spruce top, mahogany back and sizes and a Brazilian Rosewood bridge and fingerboard. The nut is 1 11/16”.

The original tuners are still in good working order. It comes with what I believe is the original hard-shell case.

Due to a neck reset performed years ago, it plays perfectly: the action is 1/8” at 12th fret and there is plenty of saddle height (see photo).

Please note that this a player's guitar, not a case queen; it has been played quite a bit during its 57 year life - the payoff being the mature, fully open tone. This guitar really rings and is quite loud for its size. There is fret-wear but it's far from needing a re-fret.

Besides the typical scuffs, scrapes and playing wear, the guitar has the following issues (please refer to the detailed photos):
  • There are a couple of small cracks on the top that were long ago professionally cleated on the inside and are fully stable.
  • There's a dent on the neck between the nut and the 1st fret - that could likely be steamed out if desired.
  • There's a minor impact crack on the upper bout.
  • It appears as if someone attempted an amateur bridge re-glue prior to it being done properly by a pro. This is cosmetic only.
  • There's a small area on back where finish is mottled/missing, likely due to contact with some sort of solvent that damaged the lacquer.

Yes, it has some flaws, but its tone easily makes up for them. As I said, this is a guitar that has spent its life being out in the world being played.

So why am I selling? I'm at heart a Gibson guy - and my beloved '42 L-00 tends to hog my playing time (pun intended).

I would prefer a face-to-face sale in the Baltimore/Washington Metro area, but will ship if the buyer covers shipping/payment fees.

I'm looking to get $3750 for this fine instrument. I'm listing it on AGF exclusively before I hit craigslist and Reverb because I'd prefer sell it to an AGF member who I know will give it a good home.

I've successfully bought and sold on the AGF and am happy to provide references.

Please PM me for further info or access to higher-res versions of these images.

Thanks.
