I have not played the Pono but I have owned rosewood and Macassar ebony Goodalls. The ME guitar had a lot less overtones than the rosewood guitar, giving a clearer sound. And it looked great!

If you want to get more feedback, maybe try a separate thread on Macassar ebony, or search the AGF. I recall Wolfram posting about it recently as he has several with that tonewood.

Thanks. I agree about the clarity and I like that. I hear pretty good things about the Pono brand.

I was playing my Larrivee tuned down a half step with a capo and it is pretty nice as well. I definitely think I prefer the short scale, and have always wanted a 12 fret, and won’t mind a slightly smaller body, but is it worth it to change guitars? I think it is about an even shift at this point, I could sell the Larrivee for not much less than the Pono costs. Mostly the hassle and I am a Larrivee fan, just not a stiff tense string fan.
