Default Adding Strap Button

I recently acquired and restored 2 vintage guitars. First, a 1967 Harmony H162 and second, a 1966 Hofner 492E 12 string. I would like to add strap buttons to the underside of the heel of each guitar. Both guitars were literally stored and untouched for 20+ years. The Harmony in an attic and the Hofner in a closet.

My question is, would the storing of guitars for so long do any damage to the wood that would make drilling into it a bad idea?

Any insight is appreciated.

Thank you

CA

Nope, no issues what so ever.

Just make sure you drill an appropriate sized guide hole for the screw
