I'd hardly call that a hack job. Only critique is your tempo. You're bouncing around, and that kind of tune needs a good, solid boom, boom, boom. Playing is pretty darn good. Slow it down, get it right on, and work it back up, it'll be great.

Nice job Tom. You really can play dem blues! Have you ever played something with your acoustic and then laid over a track with you Tele. That would be cool!

Agreed Rick, my tempo is really bad. The original had a real steady "dead thumb" rhythm that I don't even come close to. I'll keep working on it.

Ranger, I did "Hideaway" back in Feb. Played a basic blues shuffle on the T-170 and did a dirty lead over it on the CV Tele.

Nice playing, technique wise spot on. But the tempo is a bit of a problem as pointed out.

One suggestion thats worked for me (as Ive had and still often have this problem) is to get that foot tapping, hard ..

This will make you 'feel' the rythm and you will focus more on the groove than technique.

Easier said than done but getting the foot moving is a really good and easy win.

cheers !

And I almost made post here about the dearth of blues songs in "Show and Tell" I am curious, is that the sound of the Camera's internal mic, or did you hook up an external mic?

Thanks all for the comments and good suggestions.

I am trying to "relearn" it at a slower speed, and see if I can get a more steady bass going. Like a lot of folks, I speed up whenever I record myself, and my fingers tend to get "stupid" too

No reason for it... it's not like I have an audience, but you're thinking "get it right or you have to play it all over" and it messes with your brain.

That was recorded with the little internal mic on my old Sony digital cam. I put it on a tripod in video mode.
