Tacoma C3C Chief Refinish (With Pictures!)
I know this is 10 year old thread.
Years ago I called Fender to ask about refinish. By that time they said they would rather swap me to a Guild. I really liked this Tacoma Parlor, and had bought it for new 200 on close out with the finish already starting to lift at the store. It was like $1200 MSRP. SO I Did not feel it was fair to ask for a swap, and I can live with an ugly guitar that sounds good. To present day. My grandson has it and he and my son may attempt to refinish question ? Sense the old finish is such a problem to work with, can they just sand down to the wood and do a French polish? What kind of varnish or shellac to use? Thanks Whvick |

One option...
AmericanSavageGuitars.com in Texas specializes in refinishing Tacomas with "rash." Others report a cost of about $500. Tacomaguitarforum.com also has more discussion of solutions to this common problem. Mine has it, but it doesn't seem to be worsening. The front and back are usually unaffected, and that's good.
