Hooking up a Roland AC-40 to a computer running Audacity.
I have a Roland AC-40 which puts out a mono feed into a standard 1/4 inch cable. I need to hook that into something (no clue what) that puts out a USB feed so I can plug into my computer. I am using Audacity freeware to record MP3's.
I used to have a Mackie which put out standard RCA which I fed through a Behringer U-CONTROL which has a USB output. That worked find but I'm selling the Mackie so I need to re-equip. Any advice or consul would be most appreciated. (I'm about to ask Roland and if they advise an option, I'll post it.) |

The Behr U-Control will work for your Roland, too, just need 1/4" to RCA adapter.
However, the Behr is a pretty cheap A-D converter, so depending on what you ultimately want to accompish by feeding your amp signal to your computer, you might do better to get a dedicated USB audio interface with line inputs. Depending on your budget it could be a $50 behringer U-phoria, $80 Roland Duo or an interface with more features, more inputs/mic preamps, etc. If you are using any stereo effects in the amp, you would want an interface with 2 line inputs,, so you could plug both left and right amp outputs into separate inputs to record on separate tracks.
