Why does nobody make a 'premium' case for the J-45?
Been trying to find a really nice case to transport a 1949 Gibson J45. The original Lifton case does not compare to modern cases.
There are many 'premium' case companies that make generic 'Dreadnaught' cases that the guitar will fit in, but just wondering why nobody makes a decent case specifically made for one of the most prolific guitar shapes out there? Maybe I'm overlooking an option that someone can share?

I use my Hiscox Pro ii case when I’m doing some serious traveling. Fits my Martin dread fine. And with some additional removable padding I bought from this company Gibson slopes are nice and snug too.

The Collings-built “Traditional” cases are about as premium as you can get, both in execution and price. If a CJ and J-45 have exactly the same body shape (???), perhaps that would work. The tolerances are very specific; I have a 50s D-18 that works well in a Collings-made D case, but a vintage Martin 0 is slightly differently-shaped from a Collings 0 and it doesn’t fit perfectly in a Collings-built 0 case. No sure if/how much a CJ and J-45 differ...

there's not a huge demand for them because they come with a hardshell case. but you might want to email Kopp or Walker or someone who makes a J45-style slope and see what they use.

It should fit a standard dread case just fine. Why wouldn't that work?

I store my '44 J45 in a Hiscox Pro II case. Fits great. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...16206000000000 I would recommend one of their 'LiteFlite' cases for air travel. |

I have a Southern Jumbo True Vintage from 2013 and it came with the "Cali Girl" brown Tolex case with the pink interior. I think these cases came with the TV models at the time? I think it's nicer than the regular Gibson case but not up to Hiscox or Carlton levels for serious traveling. It's also heavier. I think a dealer like Music Villa in Bozeman could source one.

I had a very nice custom case made, in 2005, by Cedar Creek for my Gibson Advanced Jumbo. They asked me for measurements and I said, "Oh, it's a regular Gibson model so can't you figure it out?"
So I kept my fingers crossed and it fit great. |
