Thanks to all of you that try to help me figure out what happened.
The guitar has been on a stand when not played, maybe in the couch sometimes, late in the evening but that's it. There maybe a few dings, scratches from a capo or ring I didn't notice but it can be tons of dings that removed entire areas of lacquer I guess. Also, I own an Es-335 that does not show anything like that. Played in the same house, by the same people.

But, not made by the same people; in particularly, referring to the ones who put the finishes on those guitars.

Looks to be the beginning of the process where the finish is being taken off from playing. (Same thing on my Martin if that's any consolidation).
Personally, I say embrace it. |

That last pic... Not sure what's going on there. Looks like a lot of missing lacquer.
That couch you leave it on, does it have any vinyl content? http://www.frets.com/FretsPages/Musi...nyl/vinyl.html It just seems like a lot of finish loss for a 4 year old guitar. Last edited by Guest 33123; 09-21-2019 at 06:44 PM. |
