I just didn't want everyone putting "pre war Martin D-45" or "1930s Gibson SJ-200"

Ah, I love these threads but there's usually more of a "sell" in the title to allure you to respond. The way I see it, this title is ambiguous and could be approached one of two ways: by having us list the guitar that we currently own and would forsake all others for or by having us list the current object of our lust for "the One" that we encounter in a store somewhere.

Realistically, I suppose that I should approach this question under the premise of "my house is on fire" or "my wife is hot on my heels with a knife" so that I only have time to grab one on my way out the door.

If that were the case, I'd take the Larrivee. It's my favorite. I'd be conflicted about leaving the ones I'm working on behind but they'd be kindling regardless.

OTOH, if we're talking about "what one guitar out there has all the qualities that you have found you've liked in other guitars but do not exist within any single guitar you have or have owned previously?"

In that case then, I'd say that a well played in Larrivee L-09 or L-40R with a K&K Pure Western mini would likely scratch that itch. I love my OM-03R for its neck profile and it's balanced mids but (even though it's always sounded bigger than it is) it's always felt that it was lacking in bass and sounded too brash when played too aggressively. I want something that growls when dig in with a flat pick but also has a soothing sound when played with bare fingers. My Martin was a little more satisfying in that regard but the size and neck profile aren't nearly as comfortable as the ideal I've found in my Larrivee's neck. I'd also like a full gloss finish and an arch top case as the quality of the flat top ones for my two main acoustic guitars are lacking.

Since none of my current guitars, other than the Voyage Air, would qualify as "current production" models, I'd have to go for something new. It would have to be an all-rounder. Since the parameters appear to exclude custom, luthier built guitars, it'd probably be a Bourgeois JOM-DB Signature Brazilian.

Late to the party. If only allowed one, it would be a Martin D18. I say this as the owner of an HD28V.

Even though it's 1/6 the $ value of my Jake Robinson Bearclaw Sitka Spruce with Old Growth Brazilian Rosewood, I'd have to defer to my Pro series Takamine TF340S BG with the CoolTube preamp. Best all purpose guitar Ive ever owned. Beautiful overtones and sustain with good projection acoustically, and the most trouble free electronics I've ever owned for plug and play in open mic conditions.

If we are talking about practical, and reasonably affordable guitars, rather than the top of a fantasy list, I'd take my 1976 Larrivee L-11 as my only instrument.

And, it was my only guitar for 35 years, from 1980 until 2015.
