Default Your Favorite Gibson Electric Guitar Pickups

What are your favorite Gibson electric guitar pickups? There have been many through the decades. 57 Classics have been popular since they came out and I like them. There are fewer fans of the 490R/498T combo but I like them for hard rock/metal. I don't think I've ever played a T Top or Tar Backs (Super) before.

Your favorites, and in what guitar?

Can I say P90s, or is that cheating?

Custombuckers for humbuckers, but like Bonedigger, I like P90s. It seems more and more when I'm recording, I reach for the P90 guitars. They just fit into the mix in more songs than the humbuckers.
I can pretty much do what I need to do with these two guitars...

This gold top with the P90’s is too much!! Just beautiful. Is that an R6, Rocky?

I love the '57 Classics on a couple of my guitars. They are my favorite. I've T-Tops on my '74 LP Standard and they are very nice and sweet as well. They have quite a bit lower output than the '57 Classics but the tone is quite sweet. My luthier/technician considers the T-Tops the finest ever, better and more consistent than PAFs. Interesting.

Gibson P90s rock! Not cheating at all, it's a fantastic Gibson pickup. I have a couple of Gibsons with P90s (SG 50s Tribute and Les Paul 60s Tribute).

I have a '67 ES335 with T-Top pickups and they sound terrific. That said, I also love the P90s in my '95 Les Paul Special. I really can't pick one or the other.

The first generation dog ear P-90 is my favorite….fat solid pole magnets….I had a 46 ES 125 with one….the guitar was aptly named Big Note on account of that pickup….

My 3/4 size LP Jr from the late 50s has one screaming P90. It has no serial number and may have been refinished in the 60s due to the dark Sunburst and crazing.
My '64 Melody Maker came with TTop PAFS when I got it in 1972.
The recent LP TV Special has the new P90s.
My SG has ThroBak TTops.

Currently I'm playing the SG and loving it. The MM body is thin and light, never getting the sustain of the SG. The TV
sounds quite clean. It doesn't break up and roar the the Jr.

I have an LP with those pickups. I like them.

I’d probably give the nod to my ES-359 with the ‘57 Classics however.
