I tried all the Overdrives and Fuzz and they are just OK. The delays are great and I dedicated one istomp to the Tape delay. I tried the others and my Boss DD-7 won against them all, except the Tape Delay. I'm still deciding on a reverb. A tape delay alone is worth over $100 and the reverbs too.

After a lot of research I decided that an Ipad would solve everything for me so I purchased a used Ipad with 65 Gig very reasonable, picked it up today and set it up. I then loaded the Istomp interface and downloaded the free pedals and this rig really works. It is perfect for me to use for recording if I need something. I will never use them all but the ones I tested were pretty cool. They can be changed in less than 30 seconds. So, all is well that ends well. Thanks again David for this public service announcement!-- Darwin
You are welcome, Darwin! I thought it seemed like a good deal that might appeal to folks here.

I'm well pleased with my two - still playing around with the various models. I've discovered I'm fairly well addicted to fuzz - so that will probably lead me to buy a dedicated pedal in due course, which will in turn free up an iStomp for another purpose. Also, in the remote event I need a light traveling rig for some occasion, I can just take the pair of these and my iPad, and be in much the same position as you.

It's a good job they've sold out - I was seriously tempted to pick up a third as a spare

I have run through most of them and there are some really useable pedals. I like Total Recall, great for Johnny Cash stuff, Blue pearl Chorus is really sweet for the acoustic bed on Blue Bayou, and I tested the unplugged on my Parker Southern with the Piezo and it gives a pretty decent acoustic. We will use that on the Parker when my daughters fingers get sore from the acoustic when we gig two nights in a row. This was a home run! It even has a non latch turn off so you can use it for a mute. Very cool pedal and I can leave it hooked up to the iPad when we are gigging. -- Darwin

I think all the reverbs are nice, the simple boost pedal will be useful. Got to get the Les Paul out this weekend and have some fun. Be interesting if the acoustic simulator makes it sound like my J 45. Lol. Anyone find my Neil Young electric pedal, that's all I need. Steve

PSA-someone, not me btw, has 5 NIB istomps on eBay with a buy it now of $50. Looks like a quick turn opportunity for someone and I'm tempted...

Used the reverbs in the effects loop of my Genz Benz acoustic amp, very nice and super quiet.

The Lexicon Hall Reverb is very nice. We used it gigging last night. This is a sweet pedal with an iPad hooked up at a gig. -- Darwin

Why? Any decent pedal worth its salt costs at least double what these did, and is a one-trick pony. I count the pair I bought as among the best value accessories I've ever been lucky enough to stumble upon.

Even if Digitech does release an "iStomp 2" at NAMM, it sure as heck isn't going to cost $40, and whatever they do release doesn't diminish these in any way.

David is correct in my opinion. If I had known how good these things worked, I would have bought 2 or 3 more and never looked back. --Darwin

Cool

Ok, call me flighty, but I sold my two istomps to finance an all purpose multi effects. I made this decision based on the announcement of the Boss ME-80 release at NAMM. I want a multi effect, but get "feature fatigue" by some of the strictly bank based multi effects. I came across the fender mustang floor and it seems very appealing as it is bank based but has dedicated on/off capability for each type of effect (stomp, delays, reverbs, etc).

So back to the subject of this thread. One thing that seems somewhat lacking on the mustang is overdrive and distortion options, but the mustang has a effects insert that is controllable on the floor board. I am wanting to get an overdrive pedal and have been looking at the ehx soul food and the Boss SD-1. But I am also thinking the iStomp may be a good option as well. I am pretty ignorant to the quality of different pedals and their tones and even with the istomp I was just listening to the effects through my THR-5 and headphones. So not the best example.

Bottom line- do the istomp distortion options provide the quality of overdrive of the sd-1 or the soul food? I think the $40 istomp would be a great option if I can get some good tones.
