Default Leonora Spangenberger (13) spielt 12 Etüden von H. Villa-Lobos

One of the most amazing projects for me as guitar teacher:
The recording of all 12 Villa-Lobos etudes by my thirteen years old student Leonora Spangenberger.

Here is the first etude in e minor.

That is simply amazing. I don't know whether to pick up my guitars to practice or just pitch them all out the window! Thanks for posting.

In my humble opinion.
This is the way Etude 1 should be played. Repeated phrases, quickly, light on the last two strings (2 and 1), and ended with a relaxed sensitivity.

Amazing chops for such a young person.
This study is incredibly demanding on the left hand. Among other uses it highlights the need and benefit of learning to apply only so much pressure as is required for each note to sound clearly, i.e. avoiding hand stress when needlessly pressing down too hard.
To play it like she does, at the required tempo, is a virtuosic display of talent.
I guess that was obvious...

oh wow!!... that's amazing.

He's not a classical player, a must see is this video below of Peter Huttlinger (RIP) playing Etude #1

The thing to remember is that this video was recorded AFTER Pete had had a major stroke and an artificial heart pump installed...

Pete had to teach himself to play guitar from scratch.

Pete suggests all fingerstyle players learn Etude #1.

Remarkable. I saw the video of Ms. Spangenberger's debut concert, playing
BWV 998 at age 12 (!), and her musicality is wonderful, letting the music breathe. Great job. I'd love to know when she started and how much she practices, if you care to share more... thanks for posting.
