Default Seeking Info About Gibson 70s J-250

What is known about the J-200 variant, J-250 (or J-250R) from the 1970s? Is the rosewood (back and sides) East Indian? I've heard these were made in very limited quantities in Kalamazoo. Almost no info. that I can find out there.
Thanks!

They're Indian Rosewood and unfortunately have the dreaded Gibson double X bracing.

From what I can gather this model was in production from 1970 to 1978. How many were made though I do not know but as the story goes the rosewood body models did not sell well which very well could have led to low production numbers.
What many seem to miss about the SJ/J200 though is that for most of its existence it already had two X braces - one above and one below the soundhole. In 1971 Gibson dramatically reduced the angle of the bracing while replacing the tone bars with a second X brace. Adding insult to injury they also went with an oversized bridge plate which took up the entire space between the two X braces.

Thank you for your responses. I just purchased one, so that's why I'm curious to learn more about it. Despite all I've read about the travails of 70's Gibson acoustics, I must say this guitar really has a wonderful sound. I was really surprised when I first tried it, how deep, resonant and punchy it is.

My other guitars are a 90's Martin OM-21 and a 1960 Martin 00-18. The 00-18 has a really special sound, but this Gibson is right there for me in delivering great tone. I've been wanting for some time a Dreadnaught or Jumbo to supplement my "fingerstyle" Martins, and I think this will do beautifully.

Did I just get lucky?
