1938 Recording King Carson J. Robison Model-K - all original – great player
For sale is this 1938 Recording King Carson J. Robison Model-K. It was built by Gibson in Kalamazoo, MI, and was offered for sale through the Montgomery Ward mail-order catalog.
This is a ladder-braced guitar, and has been left intact over 80+ years. All parts are original, including the sunburst finish. It has been well-played, as evidenced by the original wear patterns on the back of the neck. It has been treated with respect and well-maintained, and all necessary repairs have been made. There is no evidence of a neck reset, and one is not needed. All cracks are solidly repaired, and the guitar was recently inspected top to bottom and touched up at an excellent Falls Church VA guitar shop. A model with similar specs was sold by Gibson under the name of Kalamazoo KG-14. Mahogany back and sides Adirondack spruce top Brazilian rosewood fingerboard Brazilian rosewood bridge Cream front binding 1 ¾” nut Soft V neck shape 14 frets to the body K&K Mini pickup This guitar is set up to play beautifully for fingerstyle, with low action. Plug it into an amp, and you have an entirely different beast. It needs zero work and is ready to plug and play now. Comes with a non-original hardshell case. $2200 plus $75 shipping CONUS. |
