Default Tom Doerr Guitar, Modified Dreadnought (Swiss/BRW) - Long awaited update!

I saw a couple of Doerr threads popped up, then I thought, why not keep the momentum going, so I might as well start a build thread of mine too. I was initially looking to add a Grand Auditorium body size to my collection and so I contacted Marcus from The Golden Ear Guitars (TGEG) in Singapore for some recommendations. Got a few names and went away and did some research in this forum and the luthiers' respective websites and Doerr caught my eye. After some further discussion with Marcus, was then informed that Doerr has just come up with his version of the Mod D. Due to my love for big bold tone of larger bodied guitars, I considered it with serious interest and when Doerr sent me pics of his first Mod D built, it was just insanely gorgeous!! That sealed the deal, I went with the Mod D instead of the GA body shape. What was also comforting was Bobby's (SuperB23) very positive video review of his Doerr Mod D.

I really liked about Doerr's concept of his 3 level series. I chose the Signature series and that is his middle series. It is still very up spec'd. I really liked this concept because at a set price you get standard upgrades and to be honest, they were so good that I didn't feel I needed to modify from the series. Every appointment from that series was spot on for my taste. Please see link below if you are interested in understanding more about the Signature series.

Tom started on the guitar last December and is expected to finish around May this year. I was very glad that he actually was able to offer me BRW with paperworks as this will need to be sent to TGEG in Singapore.

My first Mod D (Keystone) for those who have seen that thread, an ABW with sapwood including sapwood on the sides. I am really excited with the BRW selected as it also contains a similar sapwood theme, the back and also the sides has some sapwood. It should be a great compliment to my Keystone Mod D.

Here are some pics to start this thread off.

Excellent! This is going to be a really sweet guitar. His Swiss is on my Trinity; it’s really opening up nicely.

Looking forward to seeing it come together.

Do you happen to know what Tom's waiting list is like?

Estimated time from order to delivery?

I ordered mine in Nov 2018. Tom told me it would be a one year wait and he eventually started in Dec 2019 with delivery estimated to be end of May 2020.

He also has a few guitars on hand that are available. How do I know? Because my "buy it now" finger is all twitchy. ;-)
