Martin 6-string dreadnought 12-fret mahogany 1974 SOLD!
MARTIN 6-STRING DREADNOUGHT GUITAR AND NEW HARDSHELL CASE
SLOTTED HEADSTOCK Here is a 41-year old MARTIN 6-STRING dreadnought from 1974 for vintage Martin lovers wanting a LARGE sound along with great vintage aged tone that only a 12-fret can deliver like no other. ALL SOLID MAHOGANY BACK AND SIDES SOLID Sitka Spruce Top 1974 Serial Number 349XXX 12-Fret Fingerboard Slope Shouldered Body, slotted headstock and original tuners, 1-3/4" neck width at the nut, 4/32" and 3/32" action at the 12th fret This fine instrument has ordinary wear commensurate to its age and was professionally converted to a 6 string from a D12-20. There is minimal fret wear mostly on the b string's early frets and top wear around the sound hole. The all solid wood mahogany back and sides deliver a fantastic acoustical Martin sound all in its own and is a joy to play (kind of like a mahogany version of a D-28S or D-35S). Today, 70s Martin dreadnoughts are like what "pre-war Martins" were in the 1980s (they're over 40 years old and have had LOTS of play time to develop vintage tone). In the years ahead, 70s Martins will appreciate in value accordingly. SOLD ****** plus shipping from northern CA via UPS Ground. http://goldcountry.craigslist.org/msg/4955091481.html [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by kingchuck; 07-03-2015 at 04:58 PM. |

Please excuse my ignorance, but shouldn't the bridge be relocated if changing from a 14 to a 12 fret neck?

This guitar was converted from a 12 string to a 6 string. Its always been a 12 fret body.
Im assuming its got a new neck, because the old one would have a 12 string headstock and be 1-7/8" at the nut. Cool conversion. I had a '70 D12-20 that was a great sounding guitar. GLWTS |

I believe it is the original neck and the original tuning plates with 3 knobs removed from each of both treble and bass sides. I am unsure of how the nut got to 1-3/4" though. It has always been a 12-fret neck and body profile. The bridge was replaced as it accommodates 6 bridge pins now instead of 12. A 6-string nut was added too.
