Default date when searching

How do you make the most recent date show when searching? Always, when I search it just throws out all the posts jumbled together in no sort of order. No doubt Im missing something cause Im not good a fine print.

Yes, I want that info too. I'm tired of seeing 3 year old classifieds for a specific guitar.

There are multiple ways to search on the AGF. Can either of you explain specifically how and what you are searching?

I think what they are asking is this:

You do a search on a topic, say "best strings for mahogany?". You get the resulting list. The question is how to order this listing; is it possible?

As it is, it's a mixture of years. One has to open each one to see say, the last posting of an item of interest. So maybe you see a thread, and the last post is Oct 2020. Pretty good. But the very next thread listed will be from 2015. And then the one after that, from 2018.

Some threads span more than one year. But I'd wager that 1. most do not, and 2. most of us are interested in the most recent threads.

So if one could order the list that results from a search, in reverse chronological order, that would be muy excellente.

I haven't studied all the ways to search in AGF. I normally just use the default option that pops up when I select the "search" option up in the ribbon. Chances are, based on your reply, there's an option to do this in a more "advanced search" window.........

With the default Google custom search there isn’t a way to sort the results. For the forum built-in search you have to set the parameters in the search options before executing the search.

I open the forum specific search by clicking in the blue bar above on "Search" with three fingers in FireFox to open the forum specific advanced search window. You can also click the down arrow next to Search above and click on "Click here to use the forum search instead" to open the forum search. In that window, at the bottom-left corner, see the heading "Sort results by." Set the two options to "Last Posting date" and "in descending order." Done.
