Build Thread: Brondel OM-28
In the interest of keeping the proper rosewood-to-mahogany ratio in my collection, I figured it was important to balance out my incoming Brondel OM-18 with a proper OM-28. This guitar is actually destined for The Music Emporium, but I have been so impressed with Laurent's Martin-style work that I ended up claiming it. Laurent is best known for his own original body style (the A-2 in particular), but he does occasionally venture into vintage Martin territory. My sample size of his Martin-style work is exactly one: the OM-42 I own. But such is the impressiveness of that guitar, which is truly inspiring, that I'm ready to explore more of Laurent's interpretation of the classic Martin OM.
Body Style: Martin OM, style 28 Top: Adirondack spruce Back and Sides: Brazilian Nut: 1 3/4" Saddle: 2 5/16" Neck: Mahogany with carbon fiber rods (no adjustable rod) Fretboard: Ebony Bridge: Belly, ebony Finish: Oil varnish Pickguard: Celluloid Case: Hiscox Should be ready this spring I think.

Looks amazing! Correct me if I'm wrong, this is not the first time you've had more than one custom build going in the Custom Shop here? I thought there was some rule about that?

Rosewood Infinity / Mahogany Infinity = right ratio.... But your Koa and Maple content in your collection can be used like an Avogadro's constant .

Brondel OMs 218
Scanning though the Custom shop, I thought you mistakenly duplicated your OM 18 thread. Poor call on my part, you're just an extremely lucky chap.
I hope to be able to play Laurent's work soon, I really like the modern aesthetic touches he's been incorporating on his traditional Martin take (that TME OM-18 in particular..) Keep the pics coming Juston! |
