ANOTHER great guitar for Mr Paul!!...and this one with all the " Normal jazz" AND with BRAZILIAN Rosewood. I can't wait to hear Paul's reaction when he plays this one. Maybe he's come out of his otherwise understated and conservative descriptives and THIS TIME tell us how much he really likes it

Finished rim assembly, with soundport reinforcement, sliding neck adjustment features, and BIG BEVELS. Hmmm, don't see the sliding neck stuff yet, and the carbon fiber struts to support the neck block and free the upper top will go in soon, I bet.

A BIG thank you to Dave at www.guitarpartsandmore.com He was able to get John the FWI Nut and oversized Saddle.
Apparently his email was not liking my iPad. So I called and he was very helpful!

Nifty Celtic Knot rosette will be set off by thin Dark/Koa/Dark purfling. With similar purfling to bind soundhole, I think...

Progress is happening !!! Looks great to me and I am still LOVING the two JK Customs. The OVERLORD and the BIG GUN both continue to thrill me. To put it mildly...

I believe the plan is to bind the soundhole with a super thin 1/32" something! Hahaha. Maybe BRW? Is that a possibility?

John is on a tear. There are some benefits to social distancing and staying home.

Paul seems like our babies are doing very well and growing at almost the same rate under John’s TLC!

Saw the FWI and couldn’t help but ask. Do you think this is a significant upgrade to the standard bone? Have you also tried FMI? I’m rather clueless about this topic so if you could share your experience (and anyone else who would as well) would be very much appreciated.

Hanter, I have a thread in "other FS" on the FWI. Apparently the good stuff is the outer layer of the tusk. The density needs to be uniform, of course. Here: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=583885

The consensus seems to be it is much the same as fine elephant ivory which is seriously restricted, and was the Saddle of choice for most all the super vintage instruments from the pre war era.

I invested in Bob Colosi Hard West African Ivory Nut, Saddle and pins for my 2011 RT2c custom. (Now can not be shipped most states) When I swapped them in I do believe the sound got a bit more distinct and a tad bigger. It COULD be placebo effect. But I don't think so!

Perhaps John will give us the benefit of his experience here... hint hint!

I have not done enough A/B testing Nor literature searching to make an intelligent remark on this topic. I have my suspicions but had rather steer clear of such a topic that probes one of the corner stones of guitar mythology

Oh, Hanter, I have no experience with Fossil Mammoth Ivory. I understand some folks feel it is less dense than the FWI. See that thread I linked above.
